What to expect when contacting Good Shepherd’s Adaptive Computer Access Program

When you contact Good Shepherd’s Adaptive Computer Access Program, we first will ask you to provide your diagnosis, reason for evaluation, insurance and contact information.

Next, we will schedule a thorough evaluation with one of our expert therapists to assess your needs and outfit you with the device(s) you need.

This face-to-face evaluation can take approximately sixty minutes to two hours, depending on the complexity of your needs. During the evaluation, we will make an assistive technology device recommendation where appropriate. Good Shepherd will provide a written report to your insurance provider requesting the purchase of the equipment.

When the device arrives, we will ask you to return to Good Shepherd, where our physical, occupational and speech therapists will conduct a series of one-hour therapy sessions with you. This will help you get acquainted with the device and use it to the best of your ability, while allowing our therapists to calibrate it to fit your unique needs

When necessary, we will conduct additional education and training sessions, lasting thirty minutes to two hours, for your caregivers. During these sessions, we will discuss technology recommendations and train them on how to use the device.
