Brain Injury
More than 1.4 million Americans suffer a traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that at least 5.3 million Americans currently have a long-term need for help in performing activities of daily living following a traumatic brain injury.
If you or a loved one has had a traumatic brain injury and are seeking to regain your functional independence, Good Shepherd’s Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program can help.
Levels of care:
- If you are stable and ready to leave an acute-care hospital, but are not well enough to go home or to a rehabilitation hospital, our long-term acute care hospital may be appropriate for you.
- Inpatient brain injury rehabilitation for adults is available at Good Shepherd’s four inpatient facilities. Here you will receive three hours of physical, speech or occupational therapy each day.
- Inpatient brain injury rehabilitation for children is available at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital Pediatric Unit.
- If you are more advanced in your brain injury rehabilitation program, Good Shepherd offers numerous outpatient rehabilitation facilities for adults and children to continue your progress.
- If you can't make it to one of Good Shepherd's outpatient locations, we provide in-home therapy services throughout our service area.
- Good Shepherd offers numerous wellness programs for brain injury survivors. These programs, support groups and fitness opportunities will help you maintain your health and function following a TBI.
