Every woman has unique medical needs. Good Shepherd can help to address and resolve those needs in a caring, friendly and attentive environment.
Many women experience issues that limit their ability to fully function each day. Bladder and bowel control, pelvic pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia and osteoporosis can be difficult topics to discuss. Good Shepherd’s specially trained women’s health therapists strive to earn each patient’s trust and then create a personalized therapy plan to help address their issues.
Good Shepherd strives to provide comprehensive and compassionate therapy services to women of all ages.
If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may benefit from physical therapy with a women’s health specialist:
Urinary Incontinence
Our therapists emphasize muscle re-education and strengthening as they instruct women using special exercises and biofeedback.
Pelvic Weakness/Prolapse
The pelvic floor muscle group acts like a sling to support the bladder, uterus, urethra, vagina and rectum. Our therapists address muscle weakness and loss of muscle tone with muscle re-education, biofeedback and neuromuscular stimulation.
Pelvic Pain
Our therapists address pelvic pain conditions with soft tissue massage, myofascial release/scar release, stretches and gradual exposure to activities.
Fecal Incontinence (for both men and women)
Our therapists emphasize the appropriate techniques of muscle re-education, biofeedback, strengthening and/or relaxation strategies to regain functional elimination and improve persistent constipation.
Osteoporosis
Our therapists address lifestyle management and instruct women in exercise and home programs. They also help to manage pain while providing information and treatment aimed at the prevention of deformities.
Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia
Our therapists address loss of motion, joint deformities and pain by instructing women in range of motion exercise, fitting for braces (providing and fabricating) and providing other therapies.
Female Athletic Injuries
Our therapists develop treatment plans specific to each woman to address athletic and recreational injuries. Nutritional suggestions are available to address unique female requirements.
Wellness and Preventative Care
Our therapists develop progressive and lifelong exercise programs to meet the unique strengthening and flexibility needs of women.
