Externships
Good Shepherd Rehabilitation offers unpaid, one-week Winter externships to current college students who are interested in gaining insight into non-clinical career paths in a healthcare setting (if you’re interested in nursing externship opportunities, see our Nurse Extern Program).
The externship program is designed for sophomores, juniors and seniors enrolled in an undergraduate program. While any major may apply, this program is particularly geared towards those who are studying healthcare administration, business and other related majors.

The externship allows students to briefly observe/shadow in several non-clinical areas, such as:
- HR
- Marketing
- IT
- Finance
- Development/Fundraising
- Good Shepherd Learns
- Physician Group
- Care Management
- Admissions
- Administration
During the externship, students sit alongside Good Shepherd managers and associates, gaining valuable insight into their field of study and professional growth.
Students who complete the week-long externship are encouraged to apply for a three-month summer internship in the department of most interest to them. The summer 2025 internship application window opens in late winter 2024.
