Keynote Speaker: Dr. Gokul Krishnan, PhD

Dr. Gokul Krishnan is a learning scientist and human-centered design strategist committed to transforming how we experience the world. Recognized by Forbes as one of the “16 Healthcare Innovators You Should Know,” Gokul has dedicated his life to creating environments where compassion, inclusion, and human connection can flourish.

His pioneering work includes Maker Therapy for patients and families in pediatric care settings, an initiative that has touched countless lives and earned him the White House Honorary Maker Award. He also developed global neuroinclusion programs at Google, designed to help individuals flourish by building environments where everyone feels valued and empowered. His work has been featured on NPR, CBS, and Fast Company, celebrating his unique approach to enhancing well-being and connection.

Gokul’s mission to create a more hopeful world was inspired by his work with patients and families in pediatric care settings, where he witnessed the transformative power of compassion and connection. His book, In Gratitude: States of Being, released in 2025, draws on his journey, experience in behavioral science, and the stories of those he has met. In the book, Gokul invites readers to find joy, connection, and resilience in every moment. He believes gratitude is the spark that lights the way, even in the darkest times, encouraging us all to embrace the beauty already present in our lives.

Keynote Speaker: Chad Bouton

Chad Bouton is a Professor and the Vice President of Advanced Engineering and Technology at the Feinstein Institutes of Medical Research at Northwell Health in New York. He is also the Director of the Neural Bypass and Brain-Computer Interface Laboratory. For the last 28 years Prof. Bouton has pioneered technologies to diagnose and treat cancer, diabetes, congestive heart failure, brain injury, and in the last two decades –paralysis. In 2014 Bouton and his team developed an electronic ‘neural bypass’ using a brain implant to allow the first person living with paralysis to regain movement – all by simply thinking about it. And recently, in August of 2023, Bouton and his team announced the first ‘double neural bypass’ which combines multiple brain implants, AI, and spinal cord stimulation to restore lasting movement and sensation in paralyzed users. His work has been covered by 60 Minutes, TIME Magazine, National Geographic, Wired Magazine, CBS Mornings, The BBC, India Today, and many international media outlets. In 2011 Prof. Bouton was selected by the National Academy of Engineering as one of the top 100 young engineering innovators in the world. He holds over 70 patents and has helped found multiple companies including his most recent, Neuvotion, Inc.  His groundbreaking technologies have been awarded three (3) R&D 100 Awards (“The Oscars of invention”), he’s been named Innovator of the Year four (4) times, and he has been recognized by US Congress for his contributions to the fields of medical science and technology.

Anang Chokshi

Anang Chokshi is a double board-certified physical therapist in sports and orthopedics by ABPTS. He is a digital healthcare expert and entrepreneur focused on supporting innovative technologies and evidence-based clinical pathways to digitally transform the healthcare industry and improve access to care while focusing on both the patient and clinical experience. He has developed, validated, and identified effective reimbursement strategies for digital rehabilitation. 

He was formerly the Chief Clinical Officer of Reflexion Health (acquired by Smith & Nephew) and IncludeHealth. He is currently the founder and managing partner of Digital Healthcare Consulting, which assists digital healthcare solutions, medical devices, and healthcare service companies in the essential areas of go-to-market and reimbursement strategy, product development, and positioning for clinical approval. He also works for an AI Healthcare company called Athelas, which uses AI technology to help clinicians improve time with documentation and inject AI into billing to help with reimbursement.

Jeremy Wigginton, MD, EMBA, FAAFP, CPHQ

Dr. Jeremy Wigginton, Chief Medical Officer for Capital Blue Cross, is an experienced leader focusing on a team-based approach to solve complex healthcare industry problems through Lean principles. He is responsible for strategy and clinical leadership of Capital Blue Cross’ Member Health and Wellness department and aligning clinical direction with the overall goals and market needs of the organization. Dr. Wigginton is accountable for clinical programming across all lines of business, including oversight of utilization management, care management, behavioral health, population health, medical policy and coding, total cost of care, employer group clinical engagement & consultation, as well as leading efforts to provide cross-departmental clinical support. He works closely within a matrix to support additional clinical functions including  value-based program design, population analytics, healthcare data exchange, pharmacy strategy, and network & provider contracting.

Prior to joining Capital Blue Cross in 2023, Dr. Wigginton served as Vice President of Health Quality and Innovation at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and led multiple areas focused on analytics, innovation, healthcare affordability, quality, health plan operations, and performance improvement. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, holds an MBA, and has received certifications in health quality, self-funded insurance, and is a lean six sigma black belt.  Dr. Wigginton is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and practiced Family Medicine with varying administrative and academic roles in both Mississippi and Louisiana prior to beginning his career in the health plan industry.

Marion Leary, PhD, MPH, RN

Marion Leary, PhD, MPH, RN, is the Director of Innovation at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing. Dr. Leary is an expert in innovation methodology, studying human-centered design and design thinking in healthcare and nursing. As the Director of Innovation at Penn Nursing, she works to amplify and educate nurses as leaders in health and healthcare innovation. Dr. Leary leads the national Nurse Innovation Fellowship program supported by Johnson & Johnson and powered by Penn Nursing and the Wharton School. Dr. Leary is a member of the American Nurses Association’s Innovation Advisory Committee, a member of the University Science Center’s Healthcare Innovation Advisory Committee, The Nursing Beat Advisory Board member, and a Founding member of the Society of Nurse Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs and Leaders (SONSIEL). Dr. Leary is also on the NextGen Council for Natural Lands, The Nursing Leadership Council for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the United Nations and Research councils as a part of SONSIEL. She is a host of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing podcast, Amplify Nursing, and the Love n’ Leary podcast and is a contributor to the American Nurses Association’s official journal and the American Nurse as part of the My Nurse Influencer’s column. In the past Dr. Leary has contributed to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Huffington Post, Generocity, and other publications. Dr. Leary also is the co-President of the Nursing is STEM board, a coalition to have nursing designated a STEM field.

In January 2024 she was named on the Philadelphia Power List by Metro Philly. In March 2023 she was named one of five female nurses who will go down in herstory by The Nursing Beat. In May 2022 and 2023, she was selected as one of the most powerful LGBTQIA+ people in Pennsylvania by City & State PA and in 2023 and 2024 was named an LGBTQ+ Power Player and named to the Philadelphia Power List by Metro Philly. In August 2019 she was named as an Influencer of Healthcare winner in the category of Excellence in Innovation by the Philadelphia Inquirer.  In 2017, she was named Geek of the Year for her outstanding achievements in Philadelphia’s vibrant geek community in the areas of innovation, technology, and activism.

Noam Platt

Noam Platt is an ACHA certified healthcare architect and founder of Make Good INC, a 501c3 organization that designs and fabricates assistive technology for people globally. He is an award-winning specialist in designing and producing novel technology for the disabled community. His goal is to bring people together to engage in curiosity and innovative design to create a flourishing community of makers and need-knowers. He is inspired by the families and friends who reach out to MakeGood for help bringing independence into their lives.

  • This activity has been submitted to the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
  • Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network is an approved provider of continuing education by the Pennsylvania State Board of Occupational Therapy. This course is approved for 7.0 credit hours for OT/OTA in PA.
  • NCTRC continuing education session content pre-approval is pending.
  • Application has been made to the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) for continuing education contact hours for respiratory therapists

Call for Posters

The DISRUPT Conference Committee is pleased to invite submissions of abstracts for poster presentations. The committee will accept a variety of submissions, such as research studies, business analytics, clinical education initiatives or quality improvement efforts.

There will be two designated poster sessions during the day for the poster author(s) to speak with fellow attendees about their work and engage in discussions.

Your submission must include a title, author list and affiliations, and an abstract/description for review (300 words).
